Exactly. My sarcastic comments were not directed at anyone dying, currently dead, or that might or will die in the future, nor was there any implication of such. It was purely a mockery of the ridiculous bullshit the MSM is putting out there every day. But some people will stretch things enormous distances to try to find a way to be offended by it. That's their problem, not mine.

From the families of the Space Shuttle astronauts, family members of any person who didn't survive through your ER unit, etc etc etc.

And Yet... gallows humor still exists. Why, you might ask? When, if presented to certain people, it would be cruel, offensive and hurtful?

Well I'll tell you. It's for the very reason you spelled out in the quoted text above... it's to help you cope with what you see and deal with as part of your job.

I find joking with others about a specific patient that you have treated to be more of an asshole move than a joke that has no specific person in mind.
