Default What's the coolest car that one of your family members has owned? (NOT your cars)

What would it be?

My older brother's 1978 450 SL hardtop convertible. He shipped it stateside nearly a year before he ended his five-year Army deployment to Germany and my younger sibling and I had a lot of fun with it.

It was amazing how a car that weighed more than a Lincoln Town Car could embarrass stock Mustang GT's with a larger, 5-liter V-8. That car ran like a raped ape!

My brother buys & sells quite a few cars. He's had some great cars over the years (Hemi Cuda shaker hood, Porsche Speedster, Shelby GT350, 1962 Big Brake Corvette, etc.).

My favorite was his AC Autokraft Cobra MkIV. Autokraft bought the rights to the name and the original AC Cobra dies for making the aluminum body, allowing them to make a version of the Cobra that stayed true to original -- it *was* the original. Eventually Autokraft produced 480 Cobras, at which time the 'real' AC Cobra finally was laid to rest.

My brother's had a 351 small block with Holman-Moody modifications. Great car and fun to drive!

My Mom before I was born had a new '57 Bel Air vert. I have some pictures of it, but it was gone before I showed up.

My father owned a '66 Chevy II SS, L79 4-speed. Said it was a faster than any of the big-block Chevelles and such he went through in the sixties. He got sick at work once, and his car pool guy had to drive it home one rainy afternoon. Apparently it was enough of a handful he told my father.... "we'll spend the night here before I'll drive that damn thing in the rain again!" Scared the shit out of him.

Mom wouldn't drive it either, so he traded it in on a '67 396 Chevelle

I only remember it from pictures, but it was Artesian Turquois over Ermine White with the turquois interior. This combo, but on a Nova (use your imagination)...

Autokraft's cars were not legally called "Cobra", as the US District Court in Los Angeles sided with Carroll Shelby's claim to the name, deciding that Shelby was the manufacturer of record for the Cobra and therefore he owned the rights to the name, not AC Cars.

Autokraft therefore had to refer to their cars as the "AC Mark IV".

The cars were also not "true to the original", as the Autokraft Mark IV's had different engines, transmissions and independent rear suspension.
