Painting an ACI Front Splitter
I am thinging of buying an ACI front splitter. My question is what is a ballpark figure to get it painted? I was thinking of a matte black.

I'd have to dig up the receipt, but I think I paid around $150 to have it prepped/painted (Millennium Yellow).
I did the initial fitting and installation on the car before taking it to the shop to get painted, so after it was painted, it was just a matter of bolting it back on the car. If you would have the shop also install it on the car, figure another couple hours in labor time for that. |

I painted mine myself with, GASP, a can! Duplicolor has a perfect match for pewter. Painting is pretty much all in the prep work. I cleaned the piece with mineral spirits, sanded with 320, then 600 grit, 3 coats of self leveling primer, 4 coats of color, then about 7 coats of clear. Then I let it dry for 48 hours, wetsanded it with 1000 & 2000 grit, then polished it out. The hardest part was the polishing. I did it by hand. Worst thing about it was, I had to do it all, plus glass work, over again less than two weeks later, after the wife decided she wanted to hit a parking curb! Matte black would be a snap to do. No wetsanding or polishing! Done and on the car in a couple hours.

Thanks to both of you. I was planning on installing it myself.

Putting it on is a beoch! You're basically working blind when installing the support braces under the front facia. Took me about 3 hours. It's nothing that tedious, just have to take your time.
If you have any questions, or need some advice, PM me and I'll give you my cell #.
