Can't move the solar system. Only way to change it would be to adjust the calendar...

I have to spread mulch this evening at 5 PM (100+ heat index, too).

But, it's a gift from our neighbor who purchased too much, so I'm still too blessed to be distressed.

I just wish the longest day of the year wasn't the first day of Summer.

I wish the longest day was like Aug 1st.

summer starts in late April/early May here.

I'd have to go with Memorial day as the official start...that's when all the Suburban's/Tahoe's & mini vans show up full of tourists from the neighboring southern states.

They are lost...don't know how to drive...have handfuls of misbehaving kids...pack the restaurants to the point of waiting room only...leave the place a mess...

fortunately, they also leave their money.

Ah yes, the Redneck Riviera. Great beach though, love the Destin area.

While I look forward to it... I really enjoy the late summer/early fall.

Starting around early september after labor day the tourists go home and the beach clears up, the waves get bigger the water is nice and warm and the days are nice and the evenings have a slight chill in the air.

The Sunsets are also amazing

I don't mean to correct you, but the Redneck Riveria is Gulf Shores, Alabama (and immediate surrounding area). There is a world of difference between the beaches and the water in Gulf Shores and Destin/Sandestin. And in the restaurants and things to do.

and, I'm gonna have to correct you...

The Emerald Coast...inclusive of Destin, Ft. Walton, Penscola, the Beaches of South Walton & Panama City Beach, are all the Redneck Riveria.
