Sounds pretty spot on. But like you, in the desert, we had an unlimited supply of Rip Its from the chow hall instead of Monster. Good times!

I never drink those energy drinks because they are just loaded up with four hundred letter named chemicals and, moreover, they are, what, three or four bucks apiece. But my troop Jeff did. We worked the 6pm-6am shift at Bagram. Sometimes around midnight, Jeff would down a coupla Rip It's, get in his caveman stance, pound his chest, and say "Bring it on". Also sometimes, I'd look over a coupla hours later and he'd be passed out in his chair. I even took a pic one night to show my boss and mutual friend to Jeff. He laughed and ole Jeff had that stupid grin on his face. Rip It's, they're good for the huge up and down swing. |

Then there was SSgt/E5 Richard Gozinya. Well, at least, that's his nickname. Since the chow hall had a limit on taking out Gatorade, Dick got himself some bigger uniform pants. On his visit to the chow hall, Dick would load up the belt line with Gatorade, cinch it up, and walk out. More to his story, Dick was better than Radar for getting shit. He made a deal with the SPs for a bullet proof shack with an air conditioner to be placed on the baking flight line near his barren work area. He further worked out a deal with KBR for weekly PMs for the generator than powered the air-con. And that was just one of many, many "Side Deals" while at Bagram.
More, the Chief was trying to get something, I forget what now. I think it was a Gator, you know, the John Deere golf cart kinda thingy. The Chief worked his way around the base and after a coupla weeks, no bueno. Dick got on the job and in a coupla-three days, the Chief was buzzing around on a Gator. The MFer was that good for getting shit. |
