Starbucks coffee: First of all, if you are going to the store and paying $5+ for a cup of coffee, IMO, you're an idiot, and should not get to complain about inflation or prices of anything.

Second: whether or not it has a "burnt" taste depends on which variety you buy. Most of the "dark roast" varieties will have a little bit of burnt taste to them, this is not peculiar to Starbucks coffee. The longer the beans are roasted, the more they will tend to get a "burnt" flavor. Try the "Veranda Blend", it is lighter in color, and doesn't have that burnt flavor.

Third: Go to BJ's to get your Starbucks coffee. We pay $13 for 2.5 pounds of ground coffee. It lasts me and my wife a couple of months. It is literally pennies per cup.
