Morning Vegas, Jim, Robert, Rikki

Rikki and Mike: My grandmother's second husband worked for Milwaukee RR as a yardman for 40+ years. Retired in mid 80s.

Yesterday was one of the toughest days of my new life sans Marianne.
What was her 70th birthday, I just cannot believe she's gone.
I cannot look at a picture of her without tears flowing uncontrollably. Damn this sucks. Like never before.
I would not wish this anguish upon anyone.

Sorry for the self pity shit, carry on, and be sure to tell your special people in life you love them.

Hey Mike, my Dad started with the Milwaukee Road in 1974. I've been reading up on the history and ran across this, and had to wonder if any of our relatives rode this train? It was the Northwoods Hiawatha, and ran from 1936-1956.

I've ridden this on a mountain bike a couple of times https://www.ridethehiawatha.com/
A friend I ride with grew up all over Montana and Idaho. His dad worked on the Milwaukee Road. We spent a week in Avery Idaho a couple of years ago riding the trails around there. Avery used to have one of the electric substations for getting the trains up over the pass. His dad worked there for a few years. He found his 3rd grade class picture in the museum. It was pretty funny.

Mike, I can only imagine the difficulty of losing Marianne. Let those tears flow. Remember though, she is no longer suffering. Her pain is gone. She is in a better place and patiently waiting for you.

I work 2nd shift. Last night we were told that we can go home when we got done. We got done right at 11:45, which is when we take our last break. I was told we can't leave, so I go on break. I get outside and it's pouring and 53 degrees. I got soaked going to my car. Just as I got in the car, I get a message to clock out and go home.
