Choose the Form of Your Destructor: Trump Bans Bump Stocks
No grandfather clause, either. WTF? The biggest gun control president in 25 years turns out to be Trump?

i think the ATF is outside their bounds, and I also think that bump stocks are pointless toys.
since they have no serial numbers, good luck finding them unless you see them in the wild. |

Feel good legislation that will actually accomplish jack shit. I was hoping Trump would be smarter than this.

the ATF was right last year, "we don't have authority to ban these, we need a change in law" |

I'll be interested to follow the legal challenges to this... first time in my memory a "banned" item in this country is requiring the surrender of legally purchased (see ATF letter which accompanied every one) goods. This is a most disturbing precedent.

most sold for less than $500, many for under $300.
hiring a competent lawyer will run you at least $200/hour. so how much do you want to spend on a lawyer to retain something that is not essential, and is not a firearm? it's an attachment, exempt from record keeping, same as other non-serialized parts. and if shooting that fast, which is not recommended by the firearm manufacturers, as the excessive heating can lead to rounds "cooking off" by themselves, is your thing, there are other ways to do so that are quite legal. just ask Jerry Miculek (sp?) and others. |

The thing that is most upsetting about this is, the great deal maker didn't even negotiate anything in return for this. If he had gone to the leftists and said, I'll give you bump stocks in exchange for over the counter silencers, nationwide CCW and CCW reciprocity, maybe I could understand this, but to just roll over....for NOTHING? WTF?
Does he think centrists who want gun bans are going to be swayed by this? |

Except that if the reportage I read earlier is accurate, this non-serialized, molded plastic frame which cannot by any stretch of the imagination be converted to fire live ammunition, has been declared a "machine gun" by decree thus opening GD near any cockamamie interpretation by the Fed; opening the floodgates to declare things like your toaster a "machine gun" because you can get up to 4 slices of toast to pop up by depressing only a single lever. |

Rule number one you assume the gun is always loaded.
Rule number two of operating firearms, maintain full control at all times. The whole concept of a bumpstock is that you relinquish some of your control to a spring and let the rifle bounce a bunch thus moving the trigger faster than you normally could. It’s not that I don’t get it, it’s that this add on to your rifle directly violates one of your primary firearm rules. Im not sure they ever should have been sold in the first place. You want the same effect go use a rubber band. |

I had a couple. Toys are all they are. Not very accurate but will empty a mag in four to five seconds. Sold mine last year. Saw this coming.

And they fact that they are easily made. Quote:
https://geissele.com/lower-parts/triggers.html Legal, and the reset is very, very short. One of my AR's has one, and with a Spec war suppressor screwed on the end, easily bump fired from the shoulder. You're able to stay on target, due to the suppressor's weight and the riflle stays on your shoulder when you set your trigger finger pull the rifle slightly to bump fire.
