Here's what that pretty restomod on that classic car dealer website is really like.

Nothing new here, I live in a central hotbed of classic car dealers/restorers and have done some PPI inspections for acquaintances. I've seen everything from faked cars, to half-ass restorations to poorly repaired or even dangerous cars. And the popular car auctions are just as bad:

My C3 came from a classic car dealer at their Orlando location. Although they are reputable, I had some of my performance guys from my Miami location get it on a lift and give it a thorough examination. All was as advertised and I was well pleased.

Gateway is fairly solid I had some dealings with them previously. Still you did the right thing with the inspection. I looked at a nice Z-28 '69 Camaro they had - everything was rock solid except the engine stamping, so I passed.

As long as it wasn't Just Toys Classic Cars out of Orlando - as bad as some of the Sarasota area dealers are, these guys take the cake - I have my own personal story, a real zinger, about them....still chaps my azz.

That's why you always spend the extra money and have the vehicle professionally inspected before you purchase it

I grew up with rusted old cars. Spent a small fortune fixing rust on my TBird. My next classic car, I might just built it from scratch using a Dynacon chassis.

This poor soul had just bought this fine example from Mecum and I met him at a car show and he asked me what I thought about it, his wife was sitting in the car so I tried not to embarrass him too much and just said, "...you should prob get that looked at". F*cking birdcage rot, car is prob a throwaway if there is too much of this mess:

This issue is a reason I don't own the classic truck I would like. You really need to spend crazy money to get a good one. Or build/restore it yourself, And I do not have the skills.

I had a K20 new in 1987. I like the square bodies.
But if I'm spending 90 grand it would have to be a 67-72.

For 90k I'd rather put a down payment on a real truck like a F450 instead of a car show princess with re-popped Chinese sheet metal

I would agree. I already have an F250 Platinum. the most awesome truck I have ever owned...and I have had one or two.
