I agree. It's the fastest route to infamy.

The other thing I've started to ponder is the influence factor. Say you're somebody who's pissed off at the world. You feel helpless and want to strike back at the rest of your community. Where else can you commit an act that leads to depriving the county, state, or country of constitutional rights?

If you hate Toyotas, you can ram a crowd and kill a bunch of people with a Toyota Prius. Will there be an outcry about how we have to ban the Prius?

you are on to something there.

hopeless, defeated, depressed people who think that their future is crap, and have nothing to live for, no one to love, can talk themselves into thinking that "well, since i have no future, i may as well make a name for myself"

so they pick out a large, defenseless crowd, and inflict as much harm as they can, knowing that their survival of such an incident is low (and that's ok with them, they are too cowardly to either seek help or kill themselves), figure they have nothing to lose. worst case, they survive, and spend years in prison, letting the gov't pick up their legal bills.

sad.

In line withe above and influences I believe it is video games. They have grown up killing people on the screen and then you go have dinner. Except there is no re set button on life.

I wish that the media wold quit saying the shooters name and putting their face on the screen. There is no need and I think it will slow this trend down or make it less of a thing for the shooter.
