Default Yesterday sucked

So, no way to make this story short....sorry but, here goes...

We were at Costco and for the first time I lost my phone Weary ,when we left the Terrain said no phone found so I knew I must have lost it in the store. We turned around and looked where I parked because I had been right next to the nitrogen pumps and leveled off the tires but nothing there. So for over an hour Laurie & I walked around the store she was calling it between 20 to 40 times hoping to hear the ring.....nothing .....
So we reported it missing at Costco and left. When we got home, realizing that because phone was not locked we realized again that there were things on the phone that someone could have used to use to screw with us like the Nest thermostat simply safe car wash etc. after hours of changing passwords and canceling the phone line and I figured all of my pictures were gone ....and that was that.I sent emails to people that would be calling me like family mostly and then .....we ordered a new phone .

Fast forward to 8 hours later my younger sister calls Lauries phone saying "I FOUND YOUR PHONE" !!!! I was like WAAAAAAAAA? as she lives 125 miles away from us.
Some "old guy" found my phone in Costco and put it in his pocket and said when he checked out he would turn it in......well....the old bastard FORGOT it was in his pocket and obviously is hard of hearing being all the times Laurie called it ! So he and his wife started to try to call people in my phone but remember we had disconnected the line so no calls could not be made. He must have seen that Laurie called all those times and he picked a name by random and it happened to be my SISTER ! .....as luck would have it she answered the phone not knowing who the caller was....(I think maybe her car warranty is up and maybe she figured it was "that" call )

After she said hello an old voice just said......do you know Laurie ? Laughing...she said yes and he said well I found her phone (remember this guy is actually older then I am Flushed) so she told him it was mine and he gave her his name & # and I called him and met him at Costco he said I will be in front wearing a Trump hat,I told him I would have on a USA hat.We met,I got my phone and I thanked him and offered him $20.00 for his trouble (which for me is pretty freaking big being I am a cheap bastard) and he says....I don't need your $....I have $ to burn .)
So I put my arms out and said....Daddy ! .....It's me John ! ....he laughed and left and then it took another hour to get through to Verizon to reinstate phone and then put a "lock code on my phone (what a concept) Also Laurie found a thing in settings to be able to put a message on the screen that comes up before the pin code screen that you and type a message saying if found please call ( insert#here)........and phone is still locked.

Well all is well now and the sun did rise this morning as I expected it would. and we did cancel the new phone order....whew !

I appreciate the old guy that found it trying to do the right thing, even though he bobbled it a little bit.

I once found a wallet in the street, while picking up one of my employees to head to the jobsite. Still dark outside. I found a phone number in the wallet, called, got the phone number for the guy who owned the wallet, contacted him, and, as luck would have it, we were both working jobs waaaaay on the other side of town reasonably near each other, say 60 miles from where the wallet was lost. I met him at an intersection near where we were working and gave it back to him. He was happy, I was happy to see that the right thing was done. Win all around.

I hope he didn't go through the trouble of cancelling his credit cards. I mean, I think I called him before he even realized he had lost it, so I'm obviously trying to do the right thing.

Used to carry my wallet in back left hip pocket in my blue jeans.....BUTT with age and setting down much more, it became a literal PITA......SO I switched to my pocket knife front pocket on the left side......kinds hard to loooooose a wallet full of BS when in the left/right? front pockets.......

Back in the day a girl that I had picked up and messed around with left her purse in my car after dropping her off were she lived. I didn't even open it up . Went back to the house rang the doorbell and set the purse down and left.

Your next steps should be:

0) Buy that old man a bottle of Costco's finest whiskey.
1) Put a lock code on your phone.
2) Learn how to use the "Find My Phone" and "Remote Wipe" functions.

0 offered him $ and he said he had $ to burn, didn't need mine
1 did that, even though it is a pain in the ass but I'm sure I'll get used to it.
2 Wife found through Google a find my phone that not only told us where it was but gave perfect directions to his house with a picture of his house..it also saud to send law enforcement , not to go yourself but.....I guess these days they will send a social worker....remote wipe....she'll have to look into it.
What she did find in settings was on the screen before the screen where you put lock code in we could type a title that says ...If found please call this number, and she put mine on hers and hers on mine.
