Yep, the businesses around here are starting to rebel in the Philly area.
Many gyms and restaurants are refusing to close.
At work we had Christmas dinner scheduled for this Saturday.
We called and they said inside seating was still available despite the governor’s closure.

We are going.

I’m kind of a home body anyway and eating out a lot gets spendy. We already pay too much for groceries. Worked, made a decent chicken yakisoba, worked some more. Gets dark early. What else am I gonna do? No sports tonight. Need to wrap presents and stuff for all the amazon shopping. Not going to stores is a good thing in many ways.

Yeah, eating out does get spendy, but we enjoy it, and I didn’t work hard for decades to hide out now and leave a bunch of money to the kids so we’re enjoying life, COVID or no COVID.

I was a kid when I was in Japan. I do remember people wearing masks on trains and just walking around. It was a small percentage. I believe they were cotton and they wore them because they were sick with a cold or whatever and didn’t want to spread their germs. As a courtesy. Maybe it worked maybe it didn’t. I know covid is different.

My comment “as usual” refers to how the Japanese can take something someone else invented and make it better — electronics, cars, whisky, you name it. Maybe they were on to something about masks too. They’re smart that way.

Wish I could go back. Left in 1973. My mom’s family was from Sendai. No idea if any of my relatives are alive.

Someday we’ll take an Asian cruise. My eldest is dying to see Japan. Me too. My best years.
