My dad was a Sr. Engineer and he piloted these for years, I rode with him on many, many trips.

I think I may have been in the Bensonville shop at some point in early 90s. Soo Line was not one of my accounts but when I was in Chicago I sometimes went with one of our local guys to visit other customers. At the time our company only made draft gears and hydraulic cushion units. We were later acquired by Amsted Industries and by the time I retired three years ago, Amsted makes literally everything that fits “under the box” on freight cars.

My FIL was a locomotive engineer for the PA RR, then Conrail and finally retired as an Amtrak driver

No chit, small world. We probably crossed paths and didn't even know.

I was in the repower shop, strip the engine down to the bear block, new rods, mains, power packs, air compressor, turbo etc.

Could be, we were the OEM supplier to both EMD and GE on locomotive draft gears. We also reconditioned them and the RRs typically did not replace those unless the unit was in for major repairs.

Evening bar peeps.
Was a decent weather day here today, worked on laying some pavers off and on until skeeters won out and back said enough.
