Official: More than 75 injured in air race crash | US National Headlines | Comcast.net

It wasn't immediately known if anyone died in the crash but a spokesman for the event called it a "mass casualty situation." Video showed a chaotic scene with several people apparently badly wounded.

Stephanie Kruse, a spokeswoman for the Regional Emergency Medical Service Authority, said 25 people were critically injured and another 25 people were seriously hurt in the crash. More than 25 more people were treated for minor injuries, she said.

My 2 best friends are at that race and were just down the way. One of them is one of 2 people there that are is fully qualified to completely rebuild a P51 (he has been called to be on the investigative committee). He said it looked like the plane lost a trim tab and shot straight up in the air at 10 plus G's and then straight down.

He knew the Pilot

Had to be mechanical failure.

EDIT: Eyewitness reports on the news said he was headed directly toward the grandstands and it appeared to them that he maneuvered the plane away from them. Rest in peace Mr. Leeward.

Just notified Bob tulius personally who used to own one of the most pristine P-51's and donated it to a museum in England from what I have been told. I saw him with his girl as they were eating dinner where my wife works. I can say Mr. Leeward will be missed.

Pilot probably committed suicide from his wifes nagging...chicks will cause you to corkscrew into the mud.

A lot of deaths at airshows..It was probably 20 after the hour when that happened
