Holy shit, I think this is the best steak meal I've ever had in my life. Even the breaded mushrooms are better than any I've ever had in my life.

Ate at one some time ago. Nice steak but not really anything to get excited about. I know you have eaten at some pretty high end steak places so a little surprised you are so wowed by this?

Flavor!

I've eaten at Bern's Steak House, Tampa several times, and the food is awesome, and the prices are through the roof. Tonight's meal was just extremely enjoyable, and flavorful. Steak, beans, potatoes, and breaded mushrooms were all just perfect....And the price is extremely fair. I would have not started the thread had it not been this good.

12 oz. New York Strip, smothered with onions and shrooms
Green Beans
Loaded Mashed Taters
Breaded Shrooms appetizer
4 25-oz domestic beers

I find that to be a fair price.

It would have been my recommendation, if you'd asked...and yes, it is a chain, in the Landry's group, but I've had better steak there than Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, Morton's Steakhouse (especially in San Antonio). And the one time (eat there about once per month) my friend's and my steak came out closer to blue than med-rare, they took it back and replaced it in it's entirety, irrespective of how much we'd eaten! Living near the training location has benefits! At least my dogs thought so....I almost NEVER share leftovers (especially steak) from Saltgrass, but this was one such occasion! Portion sizes and prices are very fair!!!

I eat at a Texas Roadhouse near me twice a month. Their sirloin is as good as any of the steak houses around here at a much better price. The chili and salad are also pretty damn good.

Yeah, I have a hard time going to a steak house here in San Antonio, I can go down to my butcher & get a 2" T-bone and cook it the way I like. Tex-Mex is a different story.



Although I will say the times I ate at the Salt Grass there on I10 in Houston I was pleased

I like Taste of Texas here in Houston. Saltgrass has never disappointed though.

Taste of Texas is a good one too!
If you get their signature rib eye steak its not terrible…like $45 plus sides/drinks. It felt far more reasonable/better than Killins Steakhouse in Pearland. Where I dropped $150 on just the steak.

Spent $300+ With the Mrs. at 1/5th a few weeks back for their preview of Georgia James Tavern…that was a bit steep.
