Default Mortality. Do you ever think about how long you will live?
I am not old, but not young. In perfect health, actually, but feeling older every day.

Anyways, I was wondering often, how long I'll live.

What got me thinking about it again today was an ad for a car, listed by a 72 y/o guy who is downsizing. The car was a 1970. So assuming he bought it new, he's owned it for 45 years, or since he was 27. That's a good run.

Now I've got some cars I don't drive, and another I've owned half a decade and never driven. All are worth something, and all run except the last, which hasn't been registered in over 30 years.

So my point, is about what to do? Keep buying? Sell stuff? Or just enjoy what I have?

I'd like to have a few more vehicles which I'm actively searching for. I've got the funds, and space, and no complications to hold me back. But when is enough enough, and when does one really start to "downsize"?

Just curious on this, and what you might have experienced. TIA

At 18 I never thought I'd see 40. I figured it would be a horrible crash. I had no fear and no sense behind the wheel.

Now I think about it all the time. I don't see me retiring. I'll probably make it, but in my head I can't envision it.

At 18, I never gave life a second thought. At 20, 30, even 40, still not much thought. But as the sun sets on my older relatives, and even some of my friends, I've given pause to think about it further. The car ad today made me think about it further.
