Default How To Ruin Halloween

Halloween, a time of trick-or-treat and ghosts and goblins. Yeah right.

Around here, it seems to be a common practice for people in low income areas to load up vans and trucks full of kids and bring them to this and other nice neighborhoods in the area to trick or treat. Of course, in the morning a few houses were egged and trash was thrown throughout the neighborhood, pumpkins kicked over, decorations torn down.

Seriously? Anyone else have this problem?

I wish these assholes who spend so much time trying to get Halloween stopped would realize that what makes Halloween bad isn't that it's some sort of animal sacrificing Pagan ritual, but rather these little thugs (and their thug parents).

My house was completely dark. Both cars locked safely in the garage. I was in the back bedroom watching football with the dog.

When I lived in a "Multicultural" Neighborhood we had the same issues on Halloween and most Friday and Saturday nights.

Trash is trash.

Same thing for a friend.....hood rats are brought in by the van load and dropped off.
No parents (if they even know who they are).
No adult supervision, watched by teens who are just as bad.

We live out in the country so we're usually one of the ones trucking our kids to the more suburban communities...

We used to do Halloween pretty big, but in the past few years we make it a point to go out to a nice dinner with friends during the T&T hours. We used to get a few neighborhood kids, which we miss, but mostly kids we didn't recognize (and generally older than our locals and many not even in costume). Not worth it for that...

When we lived in VA Beach a lot of the kids from the surrounding subdivisions came over to ours because we had better candy. When the little thugs would come up not even in costume we just bypassed their bags. Once we had our house attempted to be "Decorated". One of our dogs decided to pull the pants off the thug as he jumped the fence. Of course the police returned his wallet and pants to him as he was running down the four lane in his briefs. I don't think he had a chance to trick or treat that year.

We get the truck load and van loads of kids also.

I'm ok with it. I bought the candy to give out. They come here because the parents want a safe area for their kids to have fun. I appreciate the fact that the parents look to where I live as a safe area and somewhere they feel their kids can have the fun they they remember from their days of trick or treating.

Bring them on.

I give out full size candy bars.

To the kids I know. The rest get "fun size." What do I look like here, Daddy Warbucks?

Good move.
We had 4 kids last year, and only saw 3 out and about this year. Doesn't make me feel bad for having a quiet, but dark, homemade pizza dinner with my bride.

Glad we're not near an area where thugs are trucked

Lots of .mil retired here, one reason I bought on this street/burb/hillside......and the kids around here have been fine SO FAR....just a bing bong and so to hand out candy to little ones about 2' tall or so....up to maybe 5' or so.....SO FAR never an issue....but I do have light/motion sensors on front/side lights around the house....but the traffic light just amuses the kids.... along with the bus stop/parking meter/street signs/etc.....antique car wheel with wood spokes....then the olde tyme air head from gas station of decades past.....handle on side....then wife's flowers/plants, much less Old Glory out front......if the glanced inside, they found a very interesting living room full of intriguing crap.....

I wonder if it would be acceptable to post a sign saying ...nicely....that only kids from the neighborhood would be treated?

Shame for the trucked in hords to spoil it for the local kids.

Put up a sign that says that, and be prepared for the "tricks."

We had a small turnout this year, most probably due to the crappy weather, however, once I saw cars driving kids around, I turned off the porch light and called it a night.

As kids, we used to carry around our pillow cases for the loot, but we always had a supply of firecrackers as well to scare the other kids on the road. Everybody did that. BANG BANG BANG....all night long. Is/was that just a Canadian thing?
