My oldest brother was a huge fan and actually looked like E a bit. He got to see him in Bufalo. He bought every new record and played the crap out of it, so even as little kids it was drilled into our brains. i still know most of the words by heart. I remember the look of disbelief and sorrow on his face. He was devastated for weeks. Seem strange to think that he was only 42 when he died. I thought that was ancient back then. Now I think it's weird that I've lived a lot longer than he did.

I was living in Germany at the time of his death, and it was a big news story. I was never a big fan of his, so it didn't devastate me, though I knew he was a big star.

I was visiting my brother in central Baptist hospital in Lexington ky. my brother had broke his neck in a swimming pool accident a week or two earlier and was still in the hospital.
