I am in the process of converting the standard seats to the factory offered Competition (racing) style.

I don't race, and generally avoid "racing" seats. But for the first time ever for me... the Competition seats are more comfortable than the standard variety.

One other thing, the passenger seat back is noticeably narrower than the drivers; the seat-back side-bolsters try to roll my sholders forward. A lot of C7 owners look confused when I mention this, and then I ask if they have ever rode in the passenger seat (and hear that they hadn't actually been a passenger while the car is driven by someone else). Just a couple of miles on that side of the car and you'll feel squeezed... especially in the sholder area.

That's what surprised me about the Competition seats, they are tamer in the sholder area (and usually it's the opposite).

Just be aware that you will sit higher. Plus those seats are heavy.

I've done one to completion so far.

two things:

* the "conversion" (not talking whole seat replacement here) is just to the seat backs. The bottoms are untouched; there is no change in seating heigth with this specific upgrade.

* This conversion process uses all GM parts; a CF vendor assembled a kit out of this, comparing the part number differences between the seat backs of the standard vs. competition seats. You get all the differing parts, and some items that are not reusable: the seat warrmer element for example... and some fasterers that are destroyed when disassembling the original seatback.

The frame for the seat back is the exact same part number for both... it is not changed - nor is one included in the kit ( it is reused during the conversion)... so there's no weight gain there at least.
The seat back foam is very light for both seat versions (couldn't detect any difference there) as well as the covering material (leather/pleather, whatever it is)... no noticeable weight difference there either.

About only thing that on the seat back that could add any additional weight is the center-high black plastic piece that allows a harness to be fed through the (now new) openings there.

In this conversion process (again, not total seat replacement)... the added weight of this additional plastic piece is in the amount of ounces.

I'll try to get some pics, as currently the two seats are installed, but only the passenger side has been converted.

Enjoy your ride! However, don't drive it while you're leasing it. You'll get raped when you go to turn it in, even if you're below the miles in your contract.
Please explain this scenario.

I only leased one of our Corvettes. And there was a mileage "cap" ... if you went over you paid a penalty.

But even if you didn't go over the cap... there was still a per-mile fee (much smaller though) for the mileage on the car when turned in. It was something like "xx cents" per mile up to xx,xxx miles, and X$ per mile over the cap.

Like you, we bought the car at the end of the lease. Didn't have cash to outright buy out the lease, so we financed the buy out amount. It was the longest car payment we ever made; 3.5 years on the lease, 4 years on the buy-out loan !!!

None of that matters if you have a normal lease that is closed-end. If I lease a Corvette on a 15,000 mile a year lease for 36 months, you can bet that you will see it in January out on the roads getting its daily dose of road salts.

Clearly, you don't live in New England. And yes, I drove mine in January on salt covered roads.
