Hello, Help please.
I bought a 1976 stingray from a friend and prior to him owning it, it had multiple owners. I am told that it now has a 383 stroker engine. The power steering pump is not hooked up, I drive it but its hard to steer. I was trying to hook it up but it does not line up with the pulleys on the motor so the belt keeps coming off and sometimes even shears off one of the power steering pump mounting bolts in the casting of the motor, another thing is that when the power steering pump is hooked up, there is no way to check the fluid level in the power steering reservoir as the cap is right underneath the alternator bracket. I was wondering what motor originally came with this car and what motor is in my vette now, the numbers stamped on the top of the intake manifold are 346249 with a 7 underneath those numbers, I am wondering what those numbers mean and also, is a stroker just the original engine bored out or is it a different engine, just wondering that maybe the wrong power steering pump is installed. Any help would be awesome. Thanks.
