Got to interact with PA's finest on Saturday

It seems Saturday was my lucky day. I was driving into town and as I passed the one large business, a PA State Trooper pulled out behind the car following me. Next light, that car turned off towards the local Auto Zone. Now the trooper is behind me as I drive my Suburban.

It's posted 30 mph and I'm doing 32 ( staying with the vehicles in front of me). I see his lights come on so I move over so he can go where he needs to be. SHIT! He pulls up behind me. I pull over to the curb and park.

Since I have my carry weapon in the console, I put down my window , left arm on the door and right hand on the left side of the steering wheel. ( showing my hands are "clear" ). Well, he comes up on the passenger side so I put down that window.

He says " I guess you're wondering why I pulled you over?"

I said " I hope it wasn't for 32 in a 30 Sir"

He replied " Your registration expired June 2021 " ( PA no longer uses plate stickers)

me-- "crap, I can renew when I get home". He said that would be fine

I tell him I'm carrying and my pistol is in the console with my paperwork and I have my license and carry permit in my wallet. He says no problem. I get my paperwork out of the console and pull out the insurance card and registration card. Sure enough, the registration expired June 2021. As I hand it to him, I say "You got me" and he chuckles.

He goes back to the car and a few minutes later he comes back up to my vehicles and says " I'm giving you a verbal warning , take care of the registration today."

I said "Thank you Sir" and extend my arm with a closed fist. He "fist bumps" me back and says "Have a nice day".

Great guy, very relaxed but in control. VERY easy to deal with. ( I'm almost 62 and not really a threat )

Yes, when I got home I renewed my registration for TWO years. I'm good until December 2023 now

Lived in central PA until I was 46. State Police were usually no nonsense but fair. Locals varied wildly even in adjoining jurisdictions

I would much rather deal with State Troopers than the locals. PA State Troopers are taught all thru their training to follow the law as written. Some locals seem to have their own spin on how it should be enforced.

When I first got my Jaguar F-Type, I was driving up to see my son at college in Arkansas, taking I-75 through a small town in Oklahoma called Atoka. I was doing about 75 when I went to pass a semi, so I stood on it a little, but not a lot. Sure enough, as I crested a small hill, there was a local police doing radar. I didn't even let him chase me. When I saw his car move, I pulled right over. I figured "he got you...take your medicine and move along."

He comes up to my window and I had my license and insurance card waiting. He was a young guy, very polite, and said "I pulled you over for excessive speed" to which I replied "Actually, I pulled myself over for excessive speed!" He laughed and went back to his car. Came back in a minute and said "I see you just got this car and I'm sure it must be a blast to drive, so I'm going to let you off with a warning and ask that you slow it down." (I had temp plates) Then he asks me to rev the engine! We talk cars for a few minutes and I was on my way.

If you act like an adult, you'll be treated like one. You may not always fare as well as I did, but whatever the outcome, it will be far less painful. A lesson that the followers of George Floyd and all these other BLM losers should have learned.

And to this day, whenever I went to visit Fayetteville, I have never gone above the speed limit through the town.

Actually, I never say yes sir or no sir to anyone as I'm not in the military. But I am always polite. Even though he was a young man, there's no reason not to be since he was that way with me. The young ones can get you in as much trouble as the older guys, so I tend not to fight city hall.

Side note: At the golf course I work at, the young people are almost always much more polite than the crabby old bastards that come in here. Go figure.

Wife and I were driving to a Marina to look at a Carver. Driving the FGT and on way home I was pushing it. Knew a speed trap town was coming up so started to dial it back. Was a Stater on other side of road who locked up, jump the ditch and came right up on me.

Of course wife says “See, you were speeding”. Think I told her to STFU while I talk. The 2 officers run out of car toward me, one w camera….. “Sorry for pulling ya over but had to see the car… can we take pics?”

20 min later, almost had them agree to chase me and let’s wind her up a bit but to no avail.

Wife didn’t say a damn thing LOL
