Default Seriously - OnStar??
Just bought a new 2024 Silverado, at delivery the salesman was showing the OnStar service and subscription.

Does GM honestly expect anyone to pay $49 a month for this?

The only services I want are the ones I can get through my cell phone and Apple CarPlay.

onstar is only good if you go off the side of the road and die, they will make a commercial and your family can get HUGE royalties.

I pay about $140/ year for my Porsche services: navigation, traffic, fuel prices, parking, etc. Then add in Sirius for the radio. It would be more if I had wifi in the car.

My Ranger is $120/ year I think. That just has remote start/ lock, and location from an app on my phone.

When GM disables new Android and Apple Play vehicles, which is coming, That will be your choice for added capabilities. They are looking for a totally closed architecture that is proprietary. For many selfish and real reasons.

If I could do it, I'd rip that OnStar crap all the way out. I don't need it or want it. The day is coming when it will be used to time your mph between two points and nail you for it. Easy to do and all that's needed is and Executive Order apparently.

There are cities doing this. On the other hand, if you broke free from a traffic jam you were stuck in, you could run a while at WOT.

So GM will settle for hundreds of millions of dollars that will go to the lawyers, and the ones who had their data mined will get free OnStar services for 6 months.

The one thing I hate that GM is doing now, if you don't have onstar or a data plan, they constantly remind you in the display and make you click through several screens to get rid of the advertisement. Stealership says the only way to get it to stop is to call onstar from the car and tell them you don't want the service, but that didn't do anything except waste my time.
