THAT is the rub. At this point, America is hopelessly divided. Half the country simply does not want what the other half wants, and the two sides can't even agree on the same basic facts. I mean, that's an insurmountable problem. It really can't be fixed until one side or the other finally takes over and we're one party rule. That's the sad truth.

I have a few friends who are leftists, ranging from reasonably moderate, what we used to call Blue Dog Dems, to about 30 minutes from marching on the factory floor and seizing the means of production. And as a libertarian, I used to be able to talk politics with my lefty friends, as well as friends on the right. At this point, we've just had to agree that friendships > political views and do what our parents told us, never discuss politics or religion.

I think the whole point of Rob's request was to have our forum take a similar approach, online, where there's a separate space to discuss things the country, and we, are hopelessly deadlocked on, while having a friendly, funny clubhouse on the OT side.

I'm actually good with that, and am trying, even though I am participating in the thread hijack here.

And blm graffiti was painted on at least one street in Houston, Carver St., right by an elementary school. Yay. Way to teach racism/Marxism to the younger generation. There was a display honoring a local civic leader years before all that, a guy who did great things for Houston. In the display, were some personal artifacts belonging to the guy being honored, including a Bible. The Bible had to go, and thus, was removed.

All this is history being eliminated. George Santanya had something to say about that.

So, there's the minority on the left driving all of that, then there's the majority on the left that see all that and say, 'this is fine."

All this actually happened, I can provide cites for anything you doubt.

As for others saying we should get along with the other side: I have zero interest in "getting along" or compromising with Communists. They must be defeated, and the GOP isn't going to do that -- they're half of the problem.

We, the people, must do it. If it's not too late, which I personally think it is, but will be more than happy to be wrong.
