Default Huge Storm and I think a Microburst

Yesterday afternoon around 3:30 I was awaken by a thunder clap (I work night shift) then a huge thunderstorm blew through. It was literally raining horizontal. There had to have been a microburst as for 20 to 30 seconds is when all this damage occurred when all of a sudden it was like we were in a hurricane. I've seen reports of 100mph winds. Lost of down trees and branches. We lost our old dogwood tree and our cars missed getting hit by a widow maker that fell. I watched it all of it happen. Still in cleanup and I still have to take a look at our roof.

Here is the radar and we were solid in the pink:

Ripped ripe branches off like dead twiggs:

Our old dogwood used to be between those bigger trees:

The widow maker, it's bigger than it looks and missed both our cars:

Power went out and it must have been bad all over the area because we are on the hospital grid and usually only lose power in a storm (if ever) for a few hours at most. Took them 22 hours to restore it. Glad I'm sort of a prepper as I had my generator working to keep the fridge going. We had TV and internet and since our house is gas I cooked up some burgers for everyone. It was actually quite peaceful last night other than the hum of the generator.

Having lived all over the country including many years in tornado alley in Texas and Okla this is the most concerned I've been since the day we had multiple tornados rip thorough our Air Force Base in Okla years ago.
What a storm.

It had to have been a microburst as the damage was literally confined to a two to three block radius. As I said we live on the hospital grid and our power has never been out for 22 hours like this time. Our neighborhood has both above ground and below ground power line. Pretty much all the above ground lines were down but just a few blocks away everyone still had power. Driving around yesterday and other neighborhoods and area didn't have any down limbs or trees.
Cleaned up and have a pile of limbs and the old dogwood the size of a small pickup truck at the curb.
BTW I love storms and I have a very well protected basement if need be.

We had two in the last month…. Lots of clean up. Both neighbors lost big trees, we were lucky.

Ya know where they says it sounds like a freight train coming at ya, it’s true

Did have to pull a X-Mas tree size branch out of the pool though

More reason to focus on getting NG out to and converting generator

Got stuck in a micro burst while camping. Temp went from 90+ to 60 in seconds. Sucked up a tent and I had brushes on my back from the hail.We lost one tent sucked up. Camp was leveled.

Thank god we were drinking.

Having lived in tornado alley for a good portion of my adult life and stood on the side of the tracks with a freight train going by at high speed I've heard that sound many times. Only I don't think it ever sounded like a freight train. Sounds a lot louder and more violent than that.
