Default F45 Suspension

I was lucky () and my 96 as the F45 suspension system. I have about 96k miles on the clock and I'm sure the shocks are worn out. The reason I said lucky is you can't get these parts anymore, and if you did find them, the cost!
In the CF forum, some of members said to replace them with Bilstein or the Koni's. There was also discussion on the removal and installing a "dummy" sensor so the light on the DIC would not light. Some said it was a scam and you don't need it for the 96.

Also, which of these shocks would be better than the other? Are they both adjustable? Where would be a good place to purchase these shocks?

This will be a project in spring time to get them replaced. I'm not a racer. Just your average joe driving a vette on our crappy California roads.

Damn Charlie we already spoke about this. Base bilsteins or KYB and the F45 plug . Mid america sells them.

Mike got his FX3 shocks revalved, I wonder if that can be done with the F45s.

That is a good question and no one seems to know the answer.

The lack of rain is a big factor on pot holes

I was searching for the manufacturer for those shocks and found this:

ABSORBER. Shock for 1996 Chevrolet Corvette (22064691)

It says VPI its the manufacturer but, I cant find VPI.

If that was true, West Texas would have the best roads on the planet.

I'm still debating shocks too, but don't have the adjustable suspension. Bilsteins are pricey for the basic ones....I can't imagine what the fancy ones would cost if they were still around. I'm thinking KYB's. Really comes down to what you're gonna use the car for. For average Joe in California, KYB's should be fine.

I can't say what shock would be the best replacement, but I can tell you that the Monroe parts store sensatracs are too soft.

My friend has a 95. He had those and about three weeks ago he replaced them with Bilsteins. He is totally in love with them and he is a driver/cruiser. He drives at speed limits and did not complain about harsh ride.

I used to have base Bilsteins in Betty Boop...

....I used to

Now she has HD

I have the Monroes on mine and they aren't terrible but I've been keeping my eye out for a KYB sale for a while now.
