Really? Which years would those be?

And assuming he did, if he took advantage of legal loopholes, I'd be upset with him for NOT taking advantage of them and being a dumbass for paying more than he had to.

(anyone who says they're happy to "pay their fare share" of taxes to a wasteful and corrupt government is a ****ing moron, plain and simple)

Nobody is taking anything from anyone. If I take advantage of the tax credit, I'm having less money stolen from me via taxation. I pay a ton of taxes to support bottom feeders and if I can pay less for one year, I'm all for it.

OOOH that wonderful $7500 tax credit with so many restrictions it is geared to entice and not pay. Read all the restrictions, the Hummer doesn't even come close to qualifying.

Think of the "Gas Guzzler" tax we pay for something not meeting the .GOV standard. I think I paid $1400 on the Hellcat. The .GOV will try to force us into something one way or another. Some politician doesn't want us to own gas stoves, tack on fees so we are forced to purchase electric, no incandescent light bulbs because someone is getting a kick back for LED, write a law for it.

Plenty of examples how the .GOV is overstepping their limits and infringing on our Constitution. Until Americans say "We are mad as hell and aren't going to take it anymore" the politicians will keep pouring it on.

This is exactly the reason for the 2nd Amendment, and exactly the reason why .gov wants to take it away.

You just described the exact distance that makes an EV very problematic in my opinion. Long road trips? Fine... the current state is what it is. It's simply not a road trip friendly technology, but ~300-350 is a typical day trip that happens on a regular basis without much thought or consideration.

Just this weekend, I took the kiddo to Monster Jam in Indy. ...almost the exact distance of your trip. Drove there, saw the show, drove home. That's not a long trip. No need to stop for hot meals along the way. It's a pretty standard "1 city away" distance, at least here in the Midwest. Pretty much any kid's sporting event has the potential to take you "1 city" away. Not being able to make that trip without a significant stop along the way is something that I can't quite wrap my brain around.

500 is the magic number. When you can reliably get 500 real miles out of a charge, I think it becomes somewhat viable for a lot more people.

I pay a lot for my tax preparation for my CPA for my business and my personal return. A good CPA knows all the LEGAL tricks in the book to pay less taxes.

Yes, we know it isn't exact but coming up 75 miles short is sort of significant. Hopefully the OP stopped at the drag strip and did some passes on the way home.

Tesla actually has a energy app that is extremely precise. Of course, it's only truly precise if you have your destination programmed into the navigation. That way, the car knows what kind of roads and traffic conditions you will be travelling through and it will estimate based on your driving habits, temperature, accessory use etc. The range displayed beside the battery symbol is EPA range, not actual range. The energy app will estimate your consumption and range very precise as long as it knows where you are going. Nav knows if a road is uphill, if there is a traffic jam, what % of the trip is highway etc. and knowing all that, it is extremely accurate. On my 2800 mile road trip, I always arrived within 2 - 3% of the estimate by the energy app.
Some people rely on the displayed range beside the battery symbol. This is not intelligent as the car has no way of knowing how far it can go if it doesn't know where you are trying to go. Let's say you plan on going 2 hours mostly uphill.. Obviously, the prediction is completely wrong in that case. The car can't predict anything if it doesn't know where you are going.
The GOM on non Tesla cars is based on your recent use.. Let's say you drive for a week around town with AC off. Your GOM will show you insanely long range.. Then you go on a 80 mph road trip and suddenly your range is 30% less than the car's prediction. The Tesla energy app on the other hand works based on the route in the Navigation system which is the only way to get an accurate prediction. It even consideres wind speed and direction based on data from National Weather Service.

$33 to go 310 highway miles? My 20 year old car does it cheaper than that. And with zero stops.

I'm a little disappointed here. OP bought a niche vehicle HE wanted, and is relating to us his unbiased, personal experiences with it. I mean, this is a car forum, that kind of thing should be welcomed.

He's not trying to recruit anyone to the 'dark side' here, just relating his personal experience. Even though I'll probably never buy an EV, it's still interesting to hear the real world experiences of people without an agenda, people we know and can trust to be objective.

How many days per year do you drive over 250 miles? For most people, it's not too many days. At home, 300 miles of range cost me $6.

I worked with a guy who drove 268 miles every day to and from work for 10 years. His '88 T-bird had about 480,000 miles on it when he sold it to a Mexican who removed the trunk lid so he could load up his lawnmower for his lawn business.

The whole premise behind Electric Vehicles is unchanged from 1880.
Toxic Batteries
Slow to charge
Short range
Requires electricity to re-charge
Heavy for the size with small payloads due to battery weight.

The misconception that EV's are 'clean' just blows my mind.
