My current Chinese Freight compressor gets extremely hot after a few minutes. That's fine for airing up low car tires, like when temperature fluxuates and you need to add 4-5 pounds to each tire, but for a low or flat big truck tire? It would be faster to just change it vs. trying to air up and plug, vs. running the compressor, stopping for 10 or 15 minutes to cool down, then run again.
Exactly why I spent the extra dough on a Viair. It has a 100% duty cycle.

I've never had it overheat. I have a leak that required air every morning before work. I needed 34psi and my tire would read 24 most mornings. It would take about 2 minutes maybe 3. I would throw it in the back seat and charge it about every two weeks. If I used my bigger batteries, less often than that.

I was a Ryobi naysayer until I ended up with a bunch of it. I'm a fan.

Thinking about this:

I have the dual cylinder, and is a beast. I use it to inflate my truck tires, for a street car, that one is da' man.

I looked at their site. It looks like about $ 500 is the cheapest I can get away with for one of their compressors. That's a bit more than I'd like to spend. for something that will ride around on the floorboard of the truck, or in the trunk of the car.

Most times I use the pump just to top off the air pressure. Never heard of them overheating. Is that pumping a completely flat tire?

This is an air compressor. It’s not very portable, but it laughs at all the tiny battery-powered ones in this thread.

I bought this one to air up the tires in the Van first and now the Hummer. It pumped from 42 PSI to 52 PSI with plenty of charge. I air up my wife's tires and also the Hellcat with no issues. Like it is USB so I can charge it in the car as well.

For one of their portables? They start at around $62, although I don't think I'd recommend anything below the 300P ($188). I've had my 300P since 2011.

For the truck itself the 88p should be fine. If you need higher pressure like what’s on load range G tires or higher then go for a 400 or larger. If you want to reach a long trailer then look at the 450 RV

Throwing this out there too - there’s manual versions that you have to switch on/off as you’re inflating a tire, and automatic ones that turn themselves off and on as you air up tires. You have to use open chucks with the manual ones, and you have to turn off the pump off to see your tire pressure. The auto ones use a valved chuck, so you let off the trigger to check tire pressure, but the compressor will turn itself off. The auto ones are a lot nicer to use, especially if you’re doing multiple tires, but cost more.
