I haven't touched a club in 6 years until Thursday and I was terrible 6 years ago. There is going to be a lot of practicing between now and then.

Let's say it's a 4-man scramble. You haven't golfed in years, and there's only 25 days.

If I was a person on your team, I'd want you to do exactly one thing:

PUTT!

That's it, maybe chip some. Don't worry about hitting driver, irons, woods, even pitch shots. PUTT! and CHIP! That's it! Do that well (and it's within the realm of reason) and you will be an asset on your team.

Yeah, possible. But if you showed up as my partner and told me "Look, I haven't hit a drive in six years, I went to the range and hit some shots the other day...But I also spent 10 solid hours PUTTING!"

I'd look at you, kinda give you slap on the back, and say "Great, PUTT!" Just putt. Please, short game help is always welcome. Make that your forte.

You can't make your long game magic in under a month. You can be a help with the short game

I hit a bucket of balls and then putted for about an hour on the practice green at the course 5 minutes from my house. I figure if I do that every other day or so, it should at least help

Your'e on the right track. I'm not trying to drum this in your head but just don't worry about your long game. Concentrate from here on out on your short game, and believe it or not you'll probably make a few awesome iron/wood shots anyway. Anyone who golfs a lot knows what it is like to have a guy who hasn't played in years try to do too much. It's painful to watch, but the guy's I've seen pull it off are just relaxed and know their limitations, and they always surprise me with a shot or two here and there. But. man, if they can just make five key putts, hell I'm thinking about buying them a pitcher at the end.

Ruffy, he's talking about practicing putting on real greens. You know, with the real grass. Not the ones with astro turf and windmills.

Work on your putting. DO they have to take at least one drive per player?

I'd work on just getting the ball going straight.

I have not golfed in years either. I just don't have the time for it.
When I did, however, I would just set up targets on my lawn and practice chipping for a few hours a day...
It really helped when it came down to course play.
If my drive got into trouble, i would chip onto the green and 2 putt at the most.
Know your chipping distances... If you have that down to muscle memory, your game is a whole lot better.

Remember to swing as hard as you can, just in case you actually hit the ball.
