A Pillar weatherstrip
Is your weatherstrip for the a-pillar on top of your a-pillar trim or underneath it? Go out in the garage and check and then get back to me.
Thanks.

I've got mine on top of the gauge pod.

Mine is on top. I can not exactly go to the garage and check but I remember putting it that way when I replaced the windshield.

What kind of input you need Munch?
When I put the gauge pod over the A pillar, I pulled the inside edge of the weather stripping over the edge of the pod so the edge isn't visible.

I'm really wondering how it came from the factory.

It goes under.... I remember trying to get it to stay over on the Z06 when I first did the targa swap. Just to confirm my vert is under as well, but don't have any clear pics of it.

^ That is not how it's suposed to be FYI.... yes you can get it like that on some cars, but that's now how it comes, and on some cars you can't get it to cover that gap.

That is the way mine is. I have never removed it or replaced it. Mine is a 98 and I am sure the weatherstrip may be getting a little hard, but I really do not see way to make that inner lip stay under the A-Pillar trim.

Mine are tucked under the trim. I was looking at GB's car Sunday and his were on top of the trim and he said his came that way from the dealer, hence my query.

I am really confused now, Cobrab4 said under, GB said over, yours is under, and it seems mine is taking the middle ground, and staying neutral. Lets meet up and see if we can get this conundrum solved.

I'm telling you.... I tried to make it stay over on my Z06 when I did the targa work. Then at Carlisle I walked around and saw they were all under. On my 2003 it was bone stock when purchased and they were both under.

I looked at mine (2001) today and it is under, like Brian says.
The edge of panel is visible. (on both sides, and I've never removed or messed with the passenger pillar) In the crappy cell phone pic below (between the red marks) you can see I peeled a section of the weatherstrip out so the weatherstrip layed over the pillar cover, but that didn't seem to work once I got to the top of the panel. |

Brian, I am not saying mine is the correct way, just the way it sits. I guess there may be some tolerence in the way rubber is molded and perhaps some will sit over. some under, and some may even sit flush. Munch wanted some info and I provided him mine.
I would agree that the weatherstrip should probably go under the trim, since the trim piece is covered around the edge, thus allowing for a finished look of the trim piece to be viewed if the weatherstrip does not fill that gap properly. |
