Default Capital Beltway convoy math

the beltway, 495, is 62 miles around, mostly 4 lanes in each direction. if planners stick to their announced plans of clogging up 3 lanes, then you'd need 6x62 miles of trucks, say 372 miles of trucks, or about 1,964,160 feet of trucks. let's assume that most have cab and trailer, so allow 80 feet per rig, then about 24,552 trucks would suffice to completely grid lock 3 lanes of each loop, and really make a mess of things for a few days.

I lived there for 17 years and avoided the beltway like the plague. I was actually happier if I could just use 66, which was somewhat of a nightmare anyway. The only section I used was from 66 to Tyson's, and if I was coming back from race tracks up north, the east side.

Can't wait to see the FFX county people lose their shit. Will make for great tv.

Biden will make Trudeau look like Ghandi. Watch how different this will be than Canada. He is going to move early and quickly. He can't afford for significant numbers of trucks to be visible on nightly news. It would hint at his disapproval numbers.

Except you don't need to park the trucks bumper-to-bumper to effectively clog the road - there can be quite a bit of empty space between each truck. One look at any clogged freeway during rush hour will make this apparent.

true. this is a worst case scenario. if you can clog up around the exit and entry ramps, that would suffice

No, just add about 10 trucks and then add in the idiot drivers by the thousands to 495 and it will clog up all by itself. It does it every day.
