Tastes great on okonomiyaki, yakisoba, takoyaki, and many other things. You may have heard of the special “dynamite sauce” used in Japanese Sushi restaurants, this is simply Kewpie mayonnaise mixed with Sriracha sauce.

We always have Duke's and Kewpie's on hand. Great on snacks while we watch this month's Sumo Basho.

You won't see it on Nigiri or Sashimi.
You’re talking either Korean or Americanized sushi. True Japanese sushi doesn’t have mayonnaise on it.

Nope. They put that stuff on damn near everything in Japan as a condiment, including sushi.

Neither born, nor raised. Spent time there supporting JAXA and GoJ.

The Japanese engineers I hung out with put kewpie on just about everything. Whether it was straight, mixed with Rayu, Karashi or furikake, They always put it on katsu and tempura, or basically anything fried.

The sushi restaurants we went to put it on just about any roll that had avocado. They would mix it with rayu to do spicy rolls. Bento almost always came with karashi and mayo.

It's been a couple years since I was there. I never saw mayo on nigiri or sashimi, but certainly on maki.

So, like I said earlier, fake Americanized sushi. I’ve spent a LOT of time in Japan. I don’t consider California rolls, or anything fried, as sushi.

Miracle Whip vs. Mayo: What's the Difference? - Healthline

People also ask
Why is Miracle Whip so bad?
Besides the loss of flavor, the creamy texture of unrefrigerated Miracle Whip may turn thicker or lumpy. It may also taste different or awful. An extra pungency may develop, making the taste disagreeable to most people. Most people will not see a miracle whip go bad in years.Sep 13, 2021

Basically what you’re saying is equivalent to saying you’ve been to Sizzler so you know what a real steak house is like, or that you’ve been to El Torito so you know all about authentic Mexican cuisine. The places you went to cater to the Western palate.

Having been born and raised in Japan, with relatives still living there, those aren’t the types of places Japanese people frequent generally. If you ever go to the real Japanese places away from Westernized establishments, you won’t find any avocado or Kewpie on any sushi.
