Headlight fit is generally done pre-paint; yours look excellent especially since the doors were not installed when the tub got painted. Exact centering in the opening and flush fitting to the body contours can really only be achieved by selectively filling and sanding before color goes on, not an option for you now.

As to paint, it will suck but I recommend pre fitting all the trim parts and chrome before you buff to ensure you have all the parts, are certain of the best order to assemble things, and can make any minor adjustments (bending, grinding or drilling) of bracketry. Once it is all fitted to your satisfaction take it all off again and polish, then final assemble. Again, all of these operations should have been completed pre paint with all hardware tagged, bagged and segregated by usage. I think Dub probably should have stopped accepting new work long before you contracted your work since almost none of what he did do meets any expectation of quality or completeness.

DUB was very gifted at all things C3 corvettes but he really screwed me over!

5 years!!!!! Every time I called to check in it was a ln hour long conversation about my car being “next level” and many excuses.

Should have done as Madd~E said and gone and got the car years before I did.

Paying the price now for that poor choice.

Here's a point of view for you?

Your medical/professional training was I'm sure at times extremely difficult, very expensive and surely gave you a lot of anxiety. At the end, all you got was a piece of paper....

After you're all done the car, it will be quite similar, in that you've "learned and earned a degree" in restoring an early C-3.

But this time you get a car!

Yea not an ideal situation by any stretch... But you have the car, most of the important bits were there(so far).
Steep learning curve for sure but nothing 2 intelligent people can't handle, possibly aided by plentiful beverages for internal lubrication.

There are horror stories of people losing their cars completely during situations like this unfortunately.
Old sick guys have a distorted sense of time and reality of what they can and have actually got done lately. I knew a guy took his car to get painted... The owners wife came out asked what the hell was he doing he was undergoing major surgery in a couple of weeks and be lucky to be walking in 6 months. The guy ended up not surviving.... Cars wers there with no owners information. The place was paid for so she just left it as is until people asked for their cars back. One I heard was never claimed and she eventually sold the property with car included. The new owner scraped it. Owner of car showed up 2 years later(had been there 7 plus years) wanting his car.

You really never can tell how a restoration will go nor how long let alone the quality going in no matter who does it in reality. I've seen both excellent/quick and slow and shoddy from both ends of the spectrum of costs/quality of shops.

Anywho... Swipe some more gloves from work and get back at it.

I have admitted for decades that I am a lot better at taking apart, than I am at putting back together! I'm even worse at putting something back together, that I didn't see getting taken apart, which is what Nicole is facing here.

A small tit bid , headlights for the ‘68 are T-3’s. Locating original high beams can be much easier versus the low beams! They had much less use and can be had.

I think there are LED conversions for both and because there is no flasher involved, should not create problems.

Doubt I’ll do anything other than lose $$$ with earning a degree in restoring C3’s. lol


Asked Tim the other day if he thought after this he would want to open a classic car restoration shop. The side eye look I got was priceless.
