An acquaintance recently bought a Ford Fiesta SE. Has a stick and claims 197 HP. Also has A/C and all the other usual doo-dads that today's drivers cannot seem to live without.
Drove very well, very well indeed. If I was in the market for that sort of vehicle, I would certainly consider it. Japanese cars just don't do it for me. Never have. |

I can't tell you anything about the car that you can't look up online, other than that a friend has had one for many years & likes it.

I had a Nissan Altima as my daily driver for almost 10 years. Had a Versa as a rental once. Everything about it felt cheap and flimsy like it was going to fall apart if you pushed it at all. I would take a well used Altima over a brand new Versa everyday of the week

Between my wife and kids we are on Nissan number 8 now. Never once have we had a major problem not due to average wear and tear.

We've been leasing a '15 Sentra for a few years, 28K on it and flawless so far.
43 mpg highway, 36 city. Not much traffic or traffic lights here, though. We will probably buy it when the lease is up. Does the Versa have the CV trans like the Sentra? Some people don't like them, and there were problems with the pre '11 ones to the point that Nissan extended the warranty on them. I've been told it is very important to service the trans when recommended. I think that's at 40K. I like the trans since that's a big part of why it's getting the gas mileage it's getting. The fit and finish on the interior rivals the C6 we had. The body not so much. If you buy one look it over very carefully. One of my front fenders is a little off on the fit. They offered to fix it, but it's not that bad and I figured there was a risk they would wind up making it worse. Also, as with any small car I worry a bit about the safety factor. There are a lot of big lifted trucks on the road where I live and I sure wouldn't want to get hit by one of them, and the Versa is even smaller. Also, as with any small car when it's very windy you better hang on with both hands and pay attention on the freeway. It does move around a bit in a cross wind. It has the tightest turning radius of any car I've ever owned. Very easy to park. You can be going the wrong way down a row of angle parking and still pull right into a space. |
