Default Should I be overly concerned?

Yesterday my temperature was bouncing between 98.5 and 99.5. This morning at 7:30 it was 98.6. At 9:18 it was 99.5.

I was feeling a LITTLE off last night and took NyQuil just to ensure a solid sleep. Felt great this morning, but I did sneeze about 4 times between Saturday late night and today.

My parents are 82 and 78 and live with me. We have ALL been using hand sanitizer and being diligent about cleanliness. My dad sneezed this morning. His health is of the absolute HIGHEST concern since he is oldest and compromised from a health standpoint.

I am going to eliminate close proximity to them until I see how this is going to go but being in the same house creates some unavoidable issues.

Here are my thoughts:

I have a window unit I can easily use in my bedroom. I have my own bathroom. I have my own TV etc. I can function from my room except for food. I have my own entrance and exit if I absolutely HAD to exit the house for some reason.

I can seal my bedroom door pretty well and use my own air system.
I can use a spare refrigerator just for my access and wipe it down after contact. Although to get to it, I have to cross the house. I am downstairs, parents are upstairs but the kitchen is a shred space.
I can work from home if I need to.

Am I being overly cautious/paranoid or appropriately concerned?

I don't feel bad, but I don't feel perfect either.

Unless you get a high fever, generally considered in this mess to be closer to 102-103, its likely you either don't have it, or are mildly infected and can fight it off. As it develops, higher fever and trouble breathing or much bigger signs of distress.

Yup. High fever (101-103) then you should go to a hospital.

9:53 - 99.1

Not sure what to think or when to take drastic measures.

Do you not have a primary care doctor you can call? Seriously? Given the age of your parents living in your home this isn't internet doctoring stuff. Call your doctor. Now.

Call the walk-in and see how backed up they are. Make sure to mention your elderly parents live with you.

Originally they were saying any temp above 100.4 is when you should be concerned.
Not sure if they have changed that.

Been sleeping enough or have allergies? If I get run down from lack of sleep I'll run a low grade fever or when I get a migraine.
What's your normal temp also? I run below 98 normally so anything over 100 and I'm sick. Some people run higher than 98.6 so take that into account.

The only reason I knew that was my wife had something like NBC on one night in the opening days of this mess.
The talking head said that you should be concerned if your temp gets above 104*.

I had to rewind to check to see if he was actually that stupid.
Confirmed.
and they never corrected themselves.

For what internet advice is worth.

Patient of mine as well as staff have tested positive that had NO fever or ANY symptoms! This is not suspicion it has been confirmed thousands of times.

You have no choice but to care for your parents, stay in another room and do all the things you have heard, especially if you food prep, dispense meds to them, help with bathing etc....

!00.4 is a signal of concern and possible infection, but not a direct indicator. If you hit that, its prescribed to isolate and call a doc to discuss, but not rush to emergency rooms.

Exactly.
If you hit 104*, I'd probably skip the phone call.

I am doing hundreds of virtual visits.

We are very clear, unless>

Fever > 102 for 3 days or more
Respiratory DISTRESS (not bad cough or chest tightness) but true shortness of breath/wheezing/dizziness

Do not go to ER. Treat at home.

Hope you have someone to help with your at risk family members

Sorry Areovette. Lots of people are going to find themselves in this situation.

Bad news, Aero. You're gonna die.

Oh, it may not be soon, or because of COVID-19. But someday, you're gonna die.
