I'd probably drive one, too. I would point out that the MAIN reason it's a $ 9,800 car is because it is built in China. Try building one with American union labor and see what it costs. That means union assembly, union parts suppliers, etc., btw.

Yep, just keep allowing the government to mandate every single faction of life, and this is what we get, and it's not stopping anytime soon.

I'd drive it for $10k.

You can buy a lot of gas for the premiums they charge for all these high mileage cars.

What's not to love? About the car, I mean. 40+ mpg, lots of features, decent size and performance...all at a price most of us could pay cash for. While I love my luxury DD, I'd drive this car to work every day with pleasure. I'd probably turn it into a beater the way I'd treat it, but who gives a shit? I'd be cutting my gasoline bill by 40% and my insurance bill by 90%, while not polluting (in reality) the air.

Stop and think about this. How many older cars (80's and 90's) that never met higher standards than this when they were new, and are now quite possibly in disrepair, or some of the emissions/safety stuff no longer works properly. Not to mention that they never got that kind of fuel economy, even when new. This would take a lot of them off of the road.

It's 10K in China! Even if GM was to import the car in an emissions acceptable version, by the time it got here it would be 15 or16K anyway. So why would they do that? It would kill USA jobs.
And seriously, if the quality of Chinese made auto parts and all goods is any indication.....it would suck big time. Every auto part that I've bought made in China has been shit!
No thanks.

Wife has had a small book keeping business...many small businesses all over the city, but one major client shut down and has moved to AZ.....

and so the equation is....to buy a 1800 buck Silverado and live with the V8 or spend near 3500 for a S10.....getting maybe twice? maybe, MPG....

we settled on the silver from across the street.....it's been a neighborhood hauler for some time now....

Good for a couple years, we see after that, need to do house rehab/punchout cleanout work....simple crap, but honestly, I find it aggravating these daze.....and I look at these newer homes in WORLS GOLF VILLAGE in St. Augustine Florida and see the construction, they are total CRAP!!!!!!

in SO many ways.....I like that my wife and her son have work, BUT.....

I gotta wonder.....

But we can't have that. That would be bad.

The fact of the matter is that almost any car sold in this country as recently as five years ago would likely not pass muster with current “safety” requirements. Go back ten years and none would make the cut. Think about that. A model year 2003 S-Class Mercedes sedan would be considered “unsafe” . . . by current standards. But was it actually unsafe? Of course not. And neither was a 1993 S-Class Benz.
Wait another 5 years and the care built today will likely be in the same "UNSAFE" category. Highway death rates are lower than ever

Deaths per 100 million passenger miles:
1970: 4.74
1980: 3.35
1990: 2.08
2000: 1.53
2010: 1.11
Seems to be heading toward an asymtote.

I'd drive it. Looks like a sensible, daily commuter car that'd be perfect for me. I drive about 88 miles round trip to and from work. I hope to get rid of my '94 Camry soon for something used, cheap and economical, but enthusiast-minded like a 2009 Pontiac Vibe GT.

There was even a factory-produced, dealer installed, supercharger option for Base and AWD models.
