Default Who has a bad memory?

You know when you have something at home and you put it somewhere and say to yourself "Oh I'll remember where I put it when I need it"...and you never remember.
My solution as of now:
Right by my desk against the wall is a shelf with a box.
I am calling it "Lost & Found" and it's all going in there.
Whenever I have something I FUKKING need I'll just look in that box instead of relying on my SHITTY elephant memory and tearing apart the house trying to find it.

I can't be the only one?

If something that is important to my wife or someone but not me, I do not recall it at all. She cracks half serious jokes over it to to my age of only 67 but she forgets, been this way for our 30 years together plus before our time.

If someone asks me what I had for lunch or dinner yesterday and if was not memorable, I have no idea. Same with movies and such. Last night was Smokey & the Bandit.

Peoples names, forget it. She talks of her friends often. I can't place them unless she clarifies, "the one who had her car stolen or the one who still suits up for covid."

I can't remember young people's names, they're all weird. No more Bob, Dick, Mary, or Suzie.

My neighbor has two girls, about 8 and 10. I have no clue what their names are. I even had to write his wife's name down, it is either Crista or Kristen -- I have to look but I think it's Kristen.

A buddy has a daughter who is about 47, named Christina. Never have any problem remembering a traditional name like that.

Have a great memory but I started doubting it years ago so I write a lot of stuff down in my phone's notes or snap pics.

I have a number of bad memories. Like when any of my dogs died. There have been a few bad memories involving ex-girlfriends. There was that time I got seasick when I insisted on staying below to make a sandwich in the galley during a rough storm off Dana Point. There are more but I'd rather not remember them.

I lose my cell phone all the time. Only way to avoid that is to have a limited number of dedicated spots in the house for it. For example, working in the garage, if I don't put it down on the right front corner of my toolbox, it's lost.

For the most part I'm doing OK at 78. I have learned over the years to put things back as soon as I'm done with them. The smaller the item the more important that is.

We are now down to 3 vechicles, my wife owns one and I the other two. At least once a week with her we spend 5-10 minutes looking for the key/fob before we can leave the house. (You never know where you will find her keys.)
Of course we have spare keys in a box that goes in my gun safe)

Me, I have two places in the house one upstairs the other downstairs and my 2 sets of keys are always in one of them. Keys for the 4wheeler and tractor are always left in the ignition just two more things I do not have to worry about.

I still have my land-line, and a couple times I had to call my cell in order to find it.

I have a key ring that has all my old-school keys (maybe 5-6) on it, it stays in the front left pocket of my jeans. Been doing this for 56 years, never lost them. For emergencies (which hasn't happened yet) one of those keys is the hatch key for my C6, another is the metal door key for my '23 Mazda with keyless ignition/entry.

I used to keep ALL my car keys on it til they came out with the bulky fobs. I don't want them in my pocket unless I'm actually in the car (my '51 Fergie tractor has no key )

When I leave home, I grab the appropriate fob off this board next to the back door. The fob never leaves my pocket until I get home, and as soon as I come in the back door after driving the fob goes back on this board -- Mazda on left, Vette on right.

Right on! My two fobs and my wife's only have 1 house key on them. Like you I grab the fob/key for the vechicle I'm driving from the regular spot when I leave house. Course we can always get in by using the remote opener thats on the garage to get in if necessary. Have generator so should be able to get in even if street power is off!

Do have a very well secured emergency key, no where near the house if worst comes to worst.

Whenever I lose a tool, all I have to do is purchase a replacement. As soon as I have the new one, the old one always shows up.

I often walk into a room and ask myself, "Why in the hell did I walk in here?"

I think I was on a mission to find or get something, but my mind goes blank
