There is no one that will currently force you to stay home. No armed man is going to show up at your house to make sure you quarantine yourself. As a society, we do still rely heavily on people to just to the right thing.

Having said that, there could be some legal repercussions for someone that is diagnosed and knowingly goes out and exposes others. For example, there are already laws in some states regarding HIV, hepatitis or tuberculosis. I’m sure if people begin intentionally exposing others to COVID-19, we’ll see some laws get put into place.

serious....so if a TP shortage, just do the plumbing trick, I was surprised the thing held tight to full line pressure....but it DID in the install I saw....

Technically, hand sanitizer is a different dynamic. While the virus is around, most people will be likely to use more hand sanitizer than they would on a given "regular" day. However, my BIL, who is a Dr. says that hand sanitizer like Purell is great for bacteria, but does not have a sufficiently high alcohol content to kill viruses, so people hoarding that are wasting their time and money.

It is inevitable that sometime in the next 50 years, the world will see a catastrophic pandemic.

Viruses are mutating faster than we can produce vaccines and many are mutating to include new vectors (such as this one were there is likely an animal/human component)

If the “shit” hits the fan, toilet paper SHOULD be the least of people’s concerns. Really, it is Darwinism at its finest. The snowflakes, buying up all the TP will be the first to fall.

Unlikely. To be catastrophic, the death rate would have to be much higher and the latest statistics, that are updating daily, actually show that the mortality rate for COvid19 is lower than previously suspected. I guarantee that there are hundreds of thousands of undiagnosed cases currently. I’m fairly certain I have seen 2 cases in my clinic. Kids are not dying with this and healthy people are not getting very sick. Thankfully, I don’t think this one is it.
