Grenada- Do you remember ?

A couple of facts I learned during my trip.
Why did the US invade Grenada in the 80s ?

Wife and I did a island tour on Saturday. Our tour guide was a political officer during the invasion. Actually, he was the officer in charge of Radio Free Grenada during the invasion.

Check the name of Grenada’s airport, see when it was renamed. Why do you think that happened then ?

Grenada is an awesome island that loves Americans, but receives no love from America, but LOTS of love from China. In the shape of all political vehicles are Chinese and a huge amount of $$$$ for infrastructure. Can you say warm water port ?
I have lots of pics to post later. But politically, I can see where the US lacks, China makes up.

I participated in the "Grenada Invasion". It was in a support role of course. I was operating out of Roosevelt Roads Naval Air Station supporting the A-10's.

local Corvette guy is a retired Army Ranger. He was part of the group that parachuted into Grenada during the night.

Gutsy; I wouldn't want to parachute into Detroit, day or night... let alone a country that had soldiers ready to shoot at the slightest sound.

I remember that. A friend of mine was a LRRP (Long Range Recon Patrol) during the Vietnam war. Some the stories he told about being inserted in 3 or 6 man unit deep behind enemy lines to gather Intel. I told him you must balls of steel to do that and he said it had to be done.
