Not often. It did 20+ years ago. But with the advent of coil on plug ignition and no distributor or wires, etc. firing order is no longer really an issue. Since OBD2 came out in 1996, the focus shifted to sensor inputs and PCM processing data, etc. During my 40+ year career, the focus changed from mechanical systems to mostly electrical systems which took their place.

Worked on all makes and models, for the most part. The most common V8 firing order 'in the day' for GM and Chrysler was 18436572. Ford had two different ones for the V8's (Ford was always a PITA with parts compatibility and consistency). The old nailhead Buicks and straight 8's were different. I knew most firing orders for most domestics before getting out of HS due to an eccentric shop teacher. Now you can just google it. Always happy to offer automotive advice, as I have BTDT for awhile. Advice like Yadkin dumping the Porsche before it bankrupts him bit by bit. Stuff like that. Some listen, some don't. No worries.

Update on The Rock. One morning we noticed it was turned 90 degrees, narrow side parallel with the driveway. Apparently some Floridiot in his Chevie Subdivision had a wrestling match with it.

And your "paper pusher" remark? Wrong again. I've been an avid DIYer since I was 12 years old. Dug foundations. Lifted houses. Framing. Roofing. Masonry repairs. Plumbing, heating, electrical. It's the reason why I've been so successful in my career as a engineer- all that practical experience translates to easy to follow designs that my clients covet.

You've got the worst case of paper envy that I've ever seen.

Get some basic knowledge and get back to me. You are too young, too green, and too uninformed for me to educate. It would take too long. Way too long.
I like to help folks out if I can, but I need them to at least have a clue.

I didn't make a career out of it. But, started when I was very young keeping my old motorcycles running on very little parts sources and money. Then went into the hobby of restoring cars. Paint, body, and basic mechanical things. I tinker and restore old motorcycles now and for the last few yrs. Cars/trucks are just too big of a job for a one man show now.

I follow one professional on yt that has a shop. He plugs a scanner into the port and reads the codes. Does some basic electrical test to narrow things down. Pops a new sensor in or fixes bad wiring at $90 hr. They just remove and replace components these days. People don't even rebuild engines or transmissions. Just replace them with something off the shelf.

So he asked you, he didn't ask you, he asked you later... try to get your story straight.

Why would he even ask you in the first place?

So, in other words, your poorly engineered illegal traffic barrier didn’t perform its intended purpose. That about it Yadkaren?

I remember the days when people would actually rebuild a starter rather than replace it.

I'm still that guy. When I tried to get a reman power steering pump for my 4Runner and found out it was about $600, I bought the seal kit for $40 and rebuilt it myself. Same thing with the '67 GTO, only the kit was like $18.
Very satisfying to rebuild the original, born-with stuff that actually fits and actually has some quality in it.

So, has our so-called Rock Star engineered a solution that actually works, yet?

There are people who still do that. Not me, but I did pay somebody else to do it for me about ten years ago.
