bilmem What oil do you use

thought we may as well talk about oil. Wouldn't be C5 gen if we didn't.

I use Valvoline 5/30 Synthetic. Don't tell the C5 engineer dude on CF. He got nasty with me one day.

Let's dance

Just plain ol' Mobile 1 here. I was going to use something fancy but price won out.

In keeping with the theme, I also use and endorse the following products.

NAPA Gold oil filter.
Amsoil trans fluid.
Valvoline dot4 brake fluid.
Valvoline pwr steering fluid.

I was going to use Mobile 1 but the place I have it changed uses valvoline products. It's on the list of approved oils so I reluctantly said OK.

I do use valvoline on all my others vehicles and have for years with zero issues.

Mobile 1....I would do it myself, but the dealership does it, and tops off all my other fluids for $60.00...so I let someone who has a lift work under the car...LOL

60 bucks? They charge me 85. I'm thinking of doing it myself though but I have to buy some new ramps.

I have a coupon book.

(In all fairness, it did go up, and last time it was like $67)

I've used Mobil 1 exclusively, but am seriously considering Royal Purple next time.

15W-50 Mobil 1..........I like the $24.50 5-quart jug price at Wally world but more the 1,300 ppm Zinc (Zn) and 1200 ppm Phosphorus (P) content that are for the needed anti-wear protection to critical engine parts, such as piston/cylinder walls, roller cams under heavy valve spring pressure and especially those that employ a solid “flat tappet” type system.
I drive ALL my vehicles hard and they haven't let me down so the current PPM above are very high compared to the other off the shelfs/price per quart

I know a lot of people swear by Royal Purple.

My valvoline did extremely well but from these tests I may be switching to Royal Purple as well.

When you read test reports from one site to another, there seems to be a big differance from one mfg, to another. whats up?, no one can come up with the same resaults. So, use what you feel good about, just chang your oil & filter.
GM says to use Mobil 5w30,
