Stop asking questions that we know the big schools are exempt from.
The big boys (FUmich, GFYosu, bama ass, a&m, FUaustin) are always exempt from all rules, they have all paid for free passes, and use them regularly.

UMia has a sponsor buy a few kids a few nice dinners and they stay in probation hell for 3+ years waiting for the punishment.

Recruiting has too many restrictions now. Why should we stop NIL from pushing all the way down? I played against Marcus Allen when he was 12 through 18 and he was extremely special even at 12.

Scouting? I played from 8 years on. Even on my Pop Warner team when I was 8, we had folks filming opponents' games. Had to be done 2 weeks in advance so they could get the film developed. We watched film as 8 year olds... We were taught that certain formations tended toward certain plays.

Why are signs sacrosanct? You can spend millions with a data service providing every eventual outcome, from every possible formation, that ever happened with a particular opponent. The only drawback was that he was an employee and had field access. Any fan can easily provide this service and it's only because some guy wore the equivalent of a 1980's car phone for his spy glasses that we're even talking about this.

My understanding was that the recruits were bought a burger lunch but I stand to be corrected. If so, not sure of the number of recruits but what are we talking about? $100 to $150?

Recruiting violations, that should be renamed "I got caught doing what everyone else is doing"

Harbaugh should stay at Michigan. Follow Saban's footsteps, to hell with the NFL. He can win more titles.

He's on the same level as Saban and Kirby Smart as a football coach, and he won a title with less talent. Michigan's recruiting class over the past 4 years did not average Top 10. #17, #9, #13, and #10 in recruiting. #12 on average.

The only other National Champ in the BCS and playoff era to do this was the Auburn team with Cam Newton. IIRC they averaged #11 in recruiting over the 4 cycles before that title.

With the playoff expanding, the B1G is a MASSIVE winner because of the even distribution of good/poor teams/programs. The college football landscape is viewed as having a Big 2 now, the B1G and SEC, but the SEC has a problem - too many 5-Star programs, not enough Vanderbilts. The top teams will beat eachother up, and as a result not all of them will be title contenders.

The B1G on the other hand has a nice mix. Plenty of top programs now - Ohio State, Michigan, Washington, Oregon, Penn State, and possibly USC if they ever get the defense right again. But also a lot of Ws on the schedule for these top teams - Northwestern, Indiana, Purdue, Minnesota, etc. Plenty of games in conference against teams that do NOT have Top 25 recruiting classes on average and do NOT have the talent to do anything other than pull off the ocassional wild upset over one of those top teams when they're down.

Despite the addition of Washington and Oregon, Michigan's schedules overall are actually going to get EASIER with the B1G going divisionless. Before, it was the bloodbath East and the cupcake West. Now Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State will get their fair share of games against the former West division teams.

And with a 12 team playoff, even if Ryan Day can ever beat Michigan, Michigan can still get in with an Ohio State loss.

Also their recruiting will get a bump now that Harbaugh can flash a ring. Only Saban, Kirby, Mac Brown, and Dabo can also do that. Top recruits now know for a fact you can win a title at Michigan.

By the way, for anyone not keeping track, Ohio State is going to be back with a vengeance next season. Small transer portal class, but MASSIVE offensive upgrade. QB Will Howard from Kansas State and IMHO the BEST RB in college football from Ole Miss, Quinshon Judkins. What that guy did behind the Ole Miss O-Line was incredible. Ohio State paid up, and Ole Miss didn't (because they needed to spend their NIL money upgrading, among other things, their O-Line).
