This reminds me of the mid 80's and using phone answering machines, tapes, etc to carry on conversations with incoming customers, and getting cabinets/etc shipped on TIME to the customer's house, so that when I disabled their kitchen, new cabs/supplies/appliances were on hand to git 'er DUN in a week, minus tile work of course.....they be cooking again by WED, and if a YEUGGE kitchen, Thurs.......
BY '94-95 I wuz on computers, and used them a bit for work planning, but it was still primarily on the old tapes/answering machines.....

And back in the early 80's I remember airlines also employed Jive translators. I wonder why that profession died off? Sure could use those services now

Posted mainly from work prior to retirement. Worked alone doing 12-16 hour night shifts monitoring alarms on computer screens. I'd take corrective action or organize a response team if necessary but if nothing was broken I had to do something to stay awake
