Anybody live in an area with gas rationing in 1979? I recall my dad switching license plates on the two cars he had to be able to beat the odd/even plate which you could only get gas on odd numbered days with and odd plate and every other day for the even numbers.

Whatever bad you have to say about Carter, and there is a lot, at least he never kow-towed to foreign heads of state or was ashamed he was a US Citizen. Come to think of it, I never thought a US President would.

But, those were the good old days when service stations actually serviced the neighborhood and repaired cars. If you were a steady customer, there were, shall we say, certain accomodations in place. It also helped if you owned a motorcycle, they were exempt.
