Default Tire pressure sensors......

Do they all have to be the same manufacturer, make and model etc.?

Same here, precisely the reason for my question although it's a little late, I'm expecting the new one any day now.

Please let me know if it works. John and I were discussing if we needed to replace all 4 or only the one that isn't working.

Each sensor is individually programmed to the car, not as a whole 4 piece unit. So long as it is compatible with the C5, you should be fine. Regardless of the manufacturer.

You can replace them one at a time with no worries. But if one goes, it's just a matter of time before the other ones die.

The sensor I bought did not fit, we discovered this when we cracked the rim. I found an exact match and have that on order now. Take the tire off your car and have your shop open it up that way you can order what's there.

There are only 2 style sensors used on a C5, categorized by the year of car...

1997-2000
and
2001-2004

The early style sensors are larger and more expensive. This pic shows both styles...Early style on the left, late style on the right.

Note it is possible to convert an early car to use the late model sensors by changing the RF receiver, which will also require using late model (01-04) keyfob remotes.

Yours will need the more expensive of the two. Just like my 98. Sucks, but that's the way it works.
Replace the one that isn't working, and hope the others stay working for a few more years.

God is it a pain in the ass to program a new sensor. All I can say is keep walking around your car and hope folks in white uniforms don't see you.
Edit. Make sure you have a very strong magnet.
