You would have thought that 17 PSI of fuel pressure would have cleared all that out

4MV-4MC, M4ME-M4MC, or E4ME-E4MC?

Is that mechanical choke or electric choke versions? They do have different cfm versions as well I think.

They are all pretty much the same beast for rebuild purposes, with a few differences between the computer carbs and non computer, but I also want to get him the right info for settings if I can.

I got the rebuild kit and info from Cliff Ruggles.
The carb is a Rochester Quadrajet. Its off of a late model Dodge 360.
The white stuff is some paste-like sybstance that, from what I can find, is oxidized ethonal.

According to my research, soaking the carb in Coca-Cola will remove the deposits better than carb cleaner will.

If that were a wheel bearing instead of a carburetor you'd be good to go. It's packed with grease quite well.

Except they aren't junk when they are set up properly.

Loved the quadrajet on my '72. Of course, I drove over 300 miles to have Lars Grimsrud set it up.

NO surprise here, I"v seen that crap before, not as BAD, but yes, and wanna know the terrible thing?? My Mom's '63 Olds F 85 215 cu in V8 2bbl sat for some 20 years in the garage, once I rebuild the brakes and the carb, it started and ran fine...guess what?? nothing like THAT crap buildup in there....

it did not like the gas much but got it down the road about 6 miles and topped off the tank with high test....smoothed out and sold the car....

NO ETHANOL to screw the pooch.....

Ethanol has cost my wife's car to go from 33 mpg to about 26-27 mpg....

'99 Escort, her driving....

Last carb I did came off a buddy's boat that looked almost that bad....carter AFB several months ago....had a fair amount of that shit in there...
