From the diary of a soft porn fiend...
This is what I did as a kid...I searched out the movies that had some skin in them. This was in the 1960s, so the selection was limited. But I quickly learned that movies made in the 1920s and 1030s contained a vast amount of nudity, some intentional, some not. Here's a shot of Maureen O'Sullivan from Tarzan and his Mate (1934):
Both Ms. O'Sullivan and the studio acknowledged that she wore nothing under her loin cloth. The movie also contained an 11 minute nude swimming scene. An Olympic swimmer named Josephine McKim temporarily replaced Maureen O'Sullivan as Jane during the skinny dipping: Movies at that time were subject to the Hays Code, a set of industry moral censorship guidelines. The Motion Pictures Producers and Distributors Association (MPPDA), which later became the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), adopted the code in 1930, began enforcing it in 1934, and abandoned it in 1968, in favor of the subsequent MPAA film rating system. Tarzan and his Mate was one of the causes of the Code being enforced in 1934. |

They sure were adept at using lighting and angles to keep it fairly PG I must say.
I can't recall seeing that....doesn't mean I didn't though! But , thanks Spence for the history lesson. Pretty talented swimming. |
