Default Source for Local News

Today, my daughter and I had lunch, and when we left there were a massive amount of LEO, State, and ambulances running right past us. Basically there was an altercation with an off duty policeman and another person. Officer was dragged by car, and someone was shot. Not sure if it was the driver, yet, as someone else was involved. But one dead, cop okay.
Anyways, I had to get behind where the shooting happened so my daughter could get her car.
Local news was okay, within an hr had an update.
But when speaking to a neighbor, later on, I was informed of some other incidents that are concerning. Local media had nothing on that.
What is your best news source , or way to get news?
I dont do social media as it was worse than 24/7 news.
