We replaced the washer dryer set a few years back. I wanted the old school type but was hard to find so we ended up with LG. They work great (knocking on wood) but the end cycle chime was absolutely obnoxious, a chime or two is fine but the damned things would play a melody. My brother stayed with us for a couple days and he figured out how to turn it off because they were in the man cave (garage) and thats where we spent most of the time

pick one of these: they might be more expensive than what is available at Lowes, fair warning.

Where’s the fun in small ones?

We put all new Kitchenaid appliances in when we remodeled a few years ago. It’s quiet and works well according to the other dishwasher in the house.

Had to replace our Bosch before the holidays, went with a KitchenAid and haven't been disappointed. Definitely a step up and just as quiet as the Bosch.

Dishwashers
In this category, KitchenAid is the safest bet because most of its dishwashers are produced in Findlay, Ohio. Kenmore and Bosch mix domestic and international production, but the versions below are made from the U.S.

Bosch Ascenta SHX3AR7[5] U.C., $700
Bosch 300 Series DLX SHX53TL5UC, $850
Bosch 500 Series SHP65T55UC, $900
Bosch 800 Plus Series SHX7PT55UC, $1,300
KitchenAid KDTM354DSS, $1,080
KitchenAid KDFE454CSS, $1,350
Kenmore Elite 12783, $1,070
Kenmore Elite 12793, $1,200
(Kenmore crossed off by me)

When I moved in this house, it had a Kenmore dishwasher which I was really impressed with...quiet and did a great job...until it died recently. I replaced it with a KitchenAid because I've had very good luck with Whirlpool/KitchenAid and I like that they're made in America. Does an outstanding job and you don't even know it's running.

The only word of warning I have (and no offense to anyone that owns them) is to stay as far away from LG as possible. What many people don't know is that years ago, there used to be a brand of appliances called GoldStar. Cheap, Korean made stuff that was suitable for little more than a college dorm or bachelor pad. GoldStar was bought out by a conglomerate. They re-branded and changed the look of the appliances and ran a slick marketing campaign and...PRESTO!! You have LG. Same junky Korean mechanicals underneath a shiny new skin.

I had two LG French door refrigerators come with two homes I bought. The compressors crapped out in a few years and they wanted nearly a grand to fix them. No thanks.

Ended up buying a USA made KitchenAid KDFE104HPS from the local appliance store.

I also purchased an extended warranty, which normally I wouldn't do, but their warranty is in house with their own repair techs. It's a family owned business that has been around since 1930, and I have bought several appliances with them.

Unfortunately it won't be in until the end of the month with all of the supply chain bullshit, but I can wait.
