My BIL is gay and married. He has a very successful antique store in Lindale Tx. His partner is a registered nurse and has been invaluable in caring for my MIL. How open is he about his gayness ? His own Mother JUST asked my wife a few weeks ago if she thought he was gay. Wife told her to ask him herself.

I’m proud that he’s my BIL as he’s just a great person that respects others as we respect him.

I still hate overt throw it in your face LBGT ists.

Where I worked in NYC is just a few blocks from a part of the city often referred to as "gay city". Yeah, lots of gay folks in my office, mostly highly educated professionals, but a few support folks as well. I got to know dozens of them, I still see one or two occasionally in social settings. Nearly all of them are surprisingly politically conservative, and MANY of them have the same distaste for the "shove it in your face" folks as us straight folks do.

Like others have said, they mostly just want to live their lives as they choose, and not be harassed about their lifestyle choices. Sounds a lot like me and my family.
