Wouldn't a dishwasher at least be water tight if there's flooding?

This is way to much. I've gone from being in the "Cone of uncertainty " to the "Cone of indifference "

Proven time and time again. Hurricanes are unpredictable. I've been through enough of these to know to always have supplies on hand no matter the time of the year.

Definitely picking up strength, read hurricane winds are relatively close to the eye, 25 miles I believe expected to be 50 when gets closer to land. Inlaws debating continuing to Mrytle Beach tomorrow or just go home now. Told them 2 or 3 days of vaca if shit gets bad, if stays far enough off shore would not be a huge deal and no reason to tuck tail and run. Being on the west side and it will be weaker by then I'm thinking it should be fine but time will tell.

At this time it looks like this one is going to pass by us heading North. We will still see a shitload of rain and some strong winds but that is far better than a local landfall. Fingers crossed that it stays off shore

And that's why they were originally named after women.

And it looks like millennials are giving the names to the hurricanes. Can't wait for hurricanes Caitlyn, Josh and Kyle.

And people are firing shots at the hurricane! Those bullets are going to come down somewhere and kill or injure people.

Perhaps you'd rather have Houston's own Sheila Jackson Lee (Miss Jackson Lee if you're nasty) naming the hurricanes?

Out here, we name our fires. Usually the name has something to do with the geographical origin of the fire.

I think it would be appropriate to name all disasters after elected officials. Just to show them how we feel about them in general.

I have no idea why they named it Dorian, do people name their kids after diatonic/modal scales these days?

An example of modal jazz, Dorian Mode.
